January 19, 2008- Eighteen associations and human rights organizations held on Saturday a sit-in in solidarity with Sheikh Mohammad al-Moayad and his companion Mohammad Zayed .

In a statement, they demanded to immediately release al-Moayad and Zaed , the tow Yemeni detainees imprisoned in US.

The statement said that continuation of detaining al-Moayad and Zayed would deepen resentment against the United States in Yemen.

Civil Society organizations renewed, in the sit-in attended by over 2 thousand people, their confirmation that Shiekh al-Moayad is among pioneers of benevolent work in Yemen, pointing out that release of al-Moayad and Zayed could lead to development of US image in Yemen, Arab and Islam people.

They further demanded to extradite al-Moayad and Zayed to Yemeni authorities and rehabilitate them
